Tip of the Week

If you haven't done much hill running as part of your marathon training (or even training for shorter races), I recommend it. Hill running builds strength and endurance like nothing else.


But, if you are new to it, be prepared for some DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) in your quads. And even if you are a pro, a tough hill can leave you with that achy feeling (but in a good way--really!!)


After 2 days in a row of running a very steep hill as part of my morning run while visiting relatives this weekend, my quads were sore! I consider myself an experienced hill runner, and I was a little surprised.


But I was able to get to a yoga class this evening and that definitely helped. So take on the hills--the DOMS will go away, as it always does, and you'll be that much more ready for your next marathon.
