August 21, 2009, Newsletter Issue #106: Early Fall Marathons: What's Up With Chicago

Tip of the Week

Since I posted last week that it's time to start your fall marathon training, this week's posts will feature some of my marathon reviews, which I hope you find helpful in choosing a fall marathon that will work with your schedule, and raise your odds of meeting your goal, whether that goal is to finish in one piece or to qualify for Boston.

Today's fall marathon: Chicago. If you want a really flat fall marathon with lots of crowd support, consider Chicago. As of now, this year's marathon is officially full, and according to the marathon website, there's no protocol for transferring numbers. But if you really want to run this race and you don't mind doing some fundraising to do so, you can check out the marathon website, www.chicagomarathon.com, for links to how to enter via a charity group.

Of course, if your cousin who signed up and got in has learned that he'll be unable to run, and you are considering adopting his number, I'm not going to tell you not to. Enough said.

Tune in tomorrow for more early fall marathon suggestions.
