Plane And Simple: Open Your Hips While Flying

You know sometimes you are looking for some piece of information and stumble across something else? Today I came across a story from an old issue of Yoga Journal with some suggestions for stretches you can do during a plane flight. As a marathoner, my hips are chronically tight, so this one appealed to me:

As you are sitting in your seat, bend your right knee and place your right foot on top of your left thigh. If you are as tight as I am, this will be a pretty darn intense hip opener. If possible, hold it for about a minute, then repeat ont he other side. In theory, you could still do this if you have someone sitting next to you. There's not much opportunity to stand up and stretch on a plane these days so I'm willing to try any helpful hint.

My next scheduled plane flight isn't until next month, but when I go, I'm trying this.

What do you do to combat post-plane stiffness? Feel free to comment!

Happy Running!
