Try This Chest And Shoulder StretchOk, I've been logging a lot of laptop time lately, and my shoulders are really tight. My yoga instructor had this suggestion this evening, so I'll share it as a runner's cross-training exercise. If your shoulders are more open and relaxing, you will be more relaxed when running, so you'll use less energy, and you'll be able to engage your arms to help propel you along. -Clasp your hands behind your back. -Roll your shoulders back, and straighten your arms as much as you can. Push your hands away from your back and lift your arms as much as possible. -The tricky part--try to keep your abs pulled in and stand as straight as you can. Don't bend forward. You should feel a stretch in your forearms and an opening in your chest and shoulders. Happy Running!
