November 6, 2009, Newsletter Issue #117: Drink Tea, Stay Well

Tip of the Week

The H1N1 flu is big news this fall, and it has spawned many articles about flu prevention.

I read an article in the Wall Street Journal last week about alternative remedies for flu that included hot liquids such as tea and chicken soup.  You can't go wrong with getting extra fluids, and  some experts suggest that the steam from warm liquids can help with congestion.

Add that to the various studies on the many health benefits of tea, and there's no reason not to drink up! If you aren't much of a tea drinker, check out the variety of flavored teas next time you're grocery shopping. If you think basic tea is dull, try a green tea with peach or raspberry flavor, or a spicy chai tea with vanilla.

Did you buy a box of tea and decide that you don't like it? Ok, you can't take it back, but you can take it to work and put it buy the office coffeepot. If your workplace is like mine, your colleagues will appreciate the variety.
